Class Dojo
Class Dojo is one of my main methods of behavior management. By using this site on my phone, an iPad, or computer, I have a quick, accessible way to track and change each student’s Dojo points. With my students, I establish goals for the whole class as well as individual student Dojo point goals. In this way, students receive individual incentives for their positive behavior milestones while they work toward a whole classroom incentive. At dismissal each day, I update each student on their individual Dojo points. This quick conferencing allows me to reflect with each student on their progress that day.
Second Step
The Second Step social-emotional learning curriculum is a valuable asset to my behavior management strategies. This curriculum provides lessons on ways for elementary students to calm down, relax, concentrate, and other social-emotional strategies. These weekly lessons provide language and strategies for students to use inside and outside of the classroom.
PBIS
In the classroom, I utilize Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) strategies. I have attended professional development sessions on implementing these behavior management tools. As a teacher, one of my main goals is to support all students. Class Dojo rewards and school-wide incentives help to support this goal.
CICO
For my students that have qualified for Check In Check Out (CICO), I have followed through with this Tier 2 intervention with fidelity. During the day, my student and I track their progress and I provide feedback. The CICO form provides concrete evidence of student performance and it has helped my students to self-monitor and correct their behavior.
